THE NIGERIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY FUND AND DORA’S REMOVAL!!!
If the latest move by the Federal government to establish a Nigerian Movie fund is anything to go by, then the lives of those involved in movie industry is about to take a turn for the better.
This was the case on the 16th of march, 2010 when speaking at the opening ceremony of the 7th African Film and Television Exposition tagged 'Impact your World' in Abuja, the minister for Information and communication, Prof. Dora Akunyili, reiterated the support of the Federal government for the Film Industry in Nigeria.
It is expected that the Nigerian movie fund would cover exclusively for script writers and technician. According to the minister, it will also provide for other sectors of the Nigerian movie industry.
This was earlier this week, but right now the ministerial cabinet, according to media reports, has been dissolved by the Acting President. Ironically, Nigeria is a place that is known for her continuity culture, so therefore what is the assurance that the Nigerian movie fund will still be in the agenda of the ministry of information and communication with the appointment of a new minister???
So, what becomes the fate of the Nigerian movie industry???
